Meet Jeremiah Renkes, the newest member of our Land Surveying team in Davenport, IA!

Q: Tell us a bit about yourself…

Jeremiah: I graduated from Morrison Institute of Technology in 2003. I live outside of Morrison in an old school house with my wife and two children.

Q: Why did you want to go into surveying?

Jeremiah: I started at Morrison Institute of Technology learning computer aided drafting. Part of the program was one year of surveying classes. After the first class, I decided that I wanted to take my career in that direction. It helped to have a few friends already in the surveying field to talk to and help me along the way.

Q: What do you enjoy most about the types of projects you work on?

Jeremiah: I really enjoy seeing the finished project of our work. I enjoy that every day is different; one day you might be completing a topographic survey and the next day you are surveying a residential lot for a home improvement project.

Q: What is your favorite holiday?

Jeremiah: I love July 4th; we always have a big family pool party and cookout, then we end the night with fireworks.

Q: What sports teams do you root for?

Jeremiah: Baseball: I love the Chicago White Sox. Football: I don’t have a team in particular, which my wife finds hilarious because I watch every NFL game that I can.

Q: What piece of advice would you give someone choosing the same career?

Jeremiah: My advice to someone starting a surveying career is to listen and learn from experienced people in the field. I think surveying is a lot of hands on learning and the more experienced always have tips and tricks that can help you along in your career.
