Meet Glenn Smith, the newest member of our MEP Team!

Q: Tell us a bit about yourself.

Glenn: I originally went to school for a career in automotive technology at Linn Tech, but decided to pivot to engineering and enrolled at the University of Missouri after finishing that up. I earned a mechanical engineering degree in 2014 and went to work for the State of Missouri Facilities Design and Construction Office. I have a really cute dog named Jojo. In my spare time, I really enjoy outdoor activities like riding bikes and hiking.

Q: Why did you want to become an Engineer?

Glenn: I have always been drawn to problem solving, and I really enjoy seeing designs coming to life. Also, I’m a huge fan of LEGOS.

Q: Is there a project you’ve worked on thus far in your career that you’re proudest of?

Glenn: I recently worked on the renovation of the Jefferson City Capitol Complex chilled water plant. We gutted the plant and installed and commissioned 3,000 tons of new chillers, pumps, and a cooling tower. During the project, we maintained continuous chilled water service to the campus loop with temporary rental equipment.

Q: Why did you decide to join the Klingner team?

Glenn: I had the opportunity to work with Klingner on several projects at my previous job and it just felt like a team that I wanted to be part of.

Q: What’s the most daring thing you’ve ever done?

Glenn: I went skydiving for the first time last summer. I highly recommend it!

Q: Which section of the bookstore / library is your favorite?

Glenn: Fiction, obviously. Sometimes Sci-Fi or bad mystery novels.
