Meet Clayton Barrett, the newest member of our MEP Team!

Q: Tell us a bit about yourself.

Clayton: I’ve lived in Quincy a little over a year now. I grew up in Arkansas, where I spent a lot of time participating in band (playing Tuba) and in theater. I went to school at Louisiana Tech University, where I earned a degree in mechanical engineering.

Q: Why did you want to become an Engineer?

Clayton: I chose engineering because I wanted to pursue a degree that I felt would be challenging while still playing to my strengths in math and problem-solving.

Q: What piece of advice would you give someone choosing the same career?

Clayton: I would recommend taking advantage of the resources and assistance offered to you. Most people you work with are always glad to help you. I really enjoy working in interdisciplinary environments that require discussion and collaboration. It provides a great opportunity to learn from those different backgrounds and fields of expertise.

Q: Why did you decide to join the Klingner team?

Clayton: I was very impressed by the level of preparation I saw in my interview. Notably, the fact that they already had a plan for training and integrating me into the team prior to me being offered or accepting the position.

Q: If you were a superhero, what powers would you have?

Clayton: I would definitely say teleportation. It would save so much time and is much more useful day-to-day, rather than having super strength or laser eyes.

Q: Are you related (or distantly related) to anyone famous?

Clayton: I am related – maybe third cousins – to the football famous Manning brothers. They have yet to come to a family gathering!
