Meet Brad Marquart, the newest member of our Civil / Site Team!

Q: Tell us a bit about yourself.

Brad: My wife, Kristi, and I had a major transition year in 2023. We left behind our lives in the U.S. Virgin Islands, we started a family, bought our first house that is close to family, and I found work in a new industry. I enjoy running, skiing, cycling, racket sports, strategy video games, and family time, and I’m hoping to get back to some of those things after our lives adjust to the little one!

Q: Why did you want to become a Technician?

Brad: I have always had an appreciation for design, problem solving, and construction — all of which I get to use in my work in the Site Department. Constructing virtual worlds and cities was something I occasionally did for fun before, but now I get the opportunity to see landscapes and projects made in real life! It certainly makes this profession very compelling.

Q: What do you enjoy most about the types of projects you work on?

Brad: I love creating functional and efficient grading on landscapes. Even surfaces as mundane as a big parking lot take significant intentional design to manage a lot of different requirements. I’m enjoying learning the trade and seeing improvement.

Q: Why did you decide to join the Klingner team?

Brad: I’ve had favorable opinions of Klingner since at least 8th grade when I shadowed at the old office on Broadway in Quincy, as well as from my father’s work. I’m honored to get to join this knowledgeable and respected team.

Q: What is one hobby that you’re great at, and what is one hobby that you’re not so great at?

Brad: I’m a good snow skier, and I’ve sailed a boat for days without seeing land, so I supposed I am good at that, too. I love golf, but I don’t expect to ever be great at that!

Q: If you could go back in time to witness one event, what would it be?

Brad: I would love to be there for the start-to-finish recording of a classic rock album, maybe Rolling Stones’ “Exile on Main St,” Pink Floyd’s “The Dark Side of the Moon,” or any of the first four Led Zeppelin albums.
