Q: Tell us a bit about yourself…

Lane: I am from Albia, IA, and I really enjoy spending time outdoors. My primary hobbies are hunting and fishing, but I also love music. I play guitar, and I’m currently learning how to play the banjo. My favorite genre of music is country, but I also love 80’s rock.

Q: Why did you want to become an Architect?

Lane: Ever since I was young, I enjoyed building dams in the creek and playing with LEGOs. I really enjoyed building things with my hands and realized that perhaps it would be something that I would enjoy in a career. I found out that DMACC had an architectural technologies program and thought that would be a great fit for me. I thoroughly enjoyed the classes and it paved the way for me to become an architectural technician.

Q: What piece of advice would you give someone choosing the same career?

Lane: Don’t be afraid of exploring your career options. There are many places with opportunities. All you should do is apply yourself and try not to get discouraged when times can be challenging.

Q: Why did you decide to join the Klingner team?

Lane: I liked how Klingner is multidisciplinary. It’s so easy to communicate with various phases on a project when everything is in-house. You don’t have to coordinate with other businesses to complete a project. Working in-house feels so much more efficient; both for the professional and, in the end, it makes it better for the client’s budget and deadline.

Q: If you were a Superhero, what powers would you have?

Lane: If I was a superhero, I would have the power to teleport, because I like getting to places as soon as possible.

Q: Do you play any sports?

Lane: I used to run cross country in high school. What I liked most about it is the feeling of accomplishment at the end of each race.
