Meet Athena Ezell, the newest member of our Architectural Team!

Q: Tell us a bit about yourself...

Athena: My name is Athena, and I am originally from Steele, MO. I went to college at Massachusetts College of Design in Boston, MA. I have a wide range of design experience from designing in the entertainment industry, international airports, commercial, residential, interiors, and utilizing graphics. I am married to a General Mills Team Leader, Zach Ezell, which led to our relocation to the area, and we have a four-year-old son.

Q: Why did you want to become an Architect?

Athena: I am an artist, which led me to eventually choosing this major in college. Early on in my college courses, I knew it was the perfect career for me. I can create structures, design with integrity, and provide designs that might bring joy for others, all while doing what I love.

Q: What piece of advice would you give someone choosing the same career?

Athena: Never stop learning how to design and always be open to follow the industry as it evolves - it's constantly changing. Use the opportunities that come along to gain wisdom while working with your peers. Finally, always design with integrity.

Q: Is there a project you've worked on thus far in your career that you're proudest of?

Athena: I think I have two. My first would be the work I did with an entertainment company in designing escape rooms. Second, I managed the signage for the Nashville International Airport. I also assisted on the team that built the 2020 Concourse D, and coming in 2023, the International Wing with plans for a hotel and metropolitan line. This involved Urban Design, which is a passion of mine.

Q: Why did you decide to join the Klingner team?

Athena: I was referred by MEP Engineer, Joe Knochel, and was honored to interview with this lovely architecture team. I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to work in such a great environment, with well-rounded professionals and an overall diverse team with many different disciplines in one company!

Q: What is one little known fact about you?

Athena: I like to eat potato chips on my hotdogs.

Q: What is your favorite hobby?

Athena: Definitely a tie between cooking and gardening!
