Meet Abra Spisso, the newest member of our Water/Wastewater team in Columbia!

Q: Tell us a bit about yourself…

Abra:I grew up in Upstate New York, and went to college in Pittsburgh, PA. I moved to Columbia a little over a year ago from Rochester, NY, so this is my first time living in the Midwest. I have two adorable cats, Theo and Steview, and will use any excuse to bring them up in conversation. I am an avid podcast listener, anything from true crime to sports, I will give it a listen. One of my favorite weekend activities is to go hiking with my fiance because we love to explore.

Q: Why did you want to become an Engineer?

Abra: I have always been interested in science and wanted to incorporate my passion for science to help benefit the community around me.

Q: What do you enjoy most about the types of projects you work on?

Abra: I love working on projects with small towns and rural communities. I find that these projects allow for direct community involvement, and it’s always rewarding to see your hard work come to life.

Q: What sports team do you root for?

Abra: I am a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan and a Pittsburgh Penguins fan!

Q: What is your favorite family tradition?

Abra: My family doesn’t eat turkey on Thanksgiving, so instead we usually make our favorite dishes such as salmon, jambalya, or stuffed peppers as our main dish. It’s my favorite because it encourages everyone in my family to cook or be a part of the meal in a special way.

Q: What piece of advice would you give someone choosing the same career?

Abra: My best advice is that you will learn something new from every person you meet and every project you are part of – so be ready to listen!
