City of Louisiana - Wastewater Treatment Plant
Klingner & Associates provided professional services for the City of Louisiana for upgrades to their wastewater treatment plant.
The project consists of construction of a new 750,000 GPD design flow (2.25 MGD peak flow) wastewater treatment plant. The space in the existing control building is being used and reconfigured and the entire facility was protected against the 500-year flood event.. Klingner provided regulatory assistance to negotiate compliance timelines with Missouri DNR, prepare the master planning report, surveying, preliminary design, structural design, process design, mechanical/electrical/plumbing design, architectural design, geotechnical engineering, construction administration and observation for the new treatment facility. Klingner also prepared a Capacity, Management, Operation and Maintenance plan for the entire sewer system.
Specific process components include two new solids handling pumps, a vertical screen, extended aeration activated sludge with clarification, ultraviolet disinfection, and a screw press for sludge handling. The electrical and HVAC equipment in the existing building were completely replaced, and the project also included replacement of the roof. Project was completed in 2014 at a cost of $5.3M.
