Project Summary

Originally built in the mid 1930’s and last remodeled in the 1970’s, it was time for the replica windmill in Sunken Gardens Park to be renovated. This iconic structure was in need of structural repairs, a new exterior weatherproof cladding, new roof, and an updated interior. The plan was to remodel the windmill in order to decrease ongoing maintenance.

Klingner made the windmill more useable by the Pella community by providing a gathering space and a secure access to a new balcony from the interior. This project required many different custom solutions to complete the renovation, including a new, hand-fitted, leaded copper tile roof and balcony system.
