Project Summary

Klingner provided architectural and engineering services for this 12,775 SF facility. Replacing the former 1905 station, the new fire station was developed to suit the needs of a modern department with completely accessible living facilities that will accommodate male and female firefighters as necessary, private offices, and training facilities that are available for cooperative use with the nearby local community college. The apparatus garage provides a textured, slip-resistant concrete floor, trench drains in each bay, infrared heat, a fume exhaust system with carbon monoxide detection, and a hose tower which doubles as a repelling training tower.

The project included the design of plumbing waste, vent, and water supply piping; building electrical service and power distribution, including an emergency generator and transfer switch; interior and exterior building lighting; a forced air heating and cooling system for the office and living areas; and a radiant heating system for the firefighting apparatus floor.
