Project Summary

Klingner provided Phase II Engineering services for IDOT District 6 for the extension of US 67 / IL 104 in Morgan County, IL. This section of expressway is 6.5 miles in length, beginning 0.2 miles East of Concord Road to 1.8 miles East of IL 100.

Phase II work included typical sections; traffic control and protection; geometric, signage, lighting, and drainage design; interchange grading; a SWPPP; final roadway plans; and final structure plans.

This section of US 67 was an extension of a 3.7-mile portion, previously designed by Klingner, that began 1.2 miles East of Jacksonville. The new expressway consisted of 6.5 miles of 4-lane pavement; a diamond interchange at Concord Road that included a structure carrying Concord Road over US 67; 22 access roads, frontage roads, service drives, and streets totaling 6.3 miles of reconstructed pavement; 500,000 cubic yards of furnished excavation; 14,000’ of culverts; and 37 light pole locations, including electric service installations. The project was constructed via five stages of construction.
