Hannibal Parks & Recreation: Riverfront Redevelopment
Klingner worked with the City of Hannibal to further define a Master Plan for improving the existing Hannibal Riverfront. Working with a steering committee, Klingner developed three concepts and opinions of probable cost. These concepts and accompanying exhibits were presented at a town hall-style meeting to allow for public commentary. Following public commentary, the city chose one concept to develop into a design.
The final design will maintain and replace aging infrastructure to help the city attract more tourists, accommodate current and future riverboat traffic, and provide a vibrant space for riverfront events and festivals. A riverboat theme was utilized to visually tie the new plaza, promenade, and docks to the historic downtown. Other project elements include a promenade, an interactive fountain, a pergola, a boat ramp, a small marina, sidewalks, curbs, fencing, lighting, dredging, and other features as identified in the master plan.
Klingner also provided construction observation for this project.
