CONFIDENTIAL CLIENT - Various Projects
Klingner has provided design services for numerous projects throughout this chemical plant’s campus over several years, including:
GUARD HOUSE AND VISITOR’S CENTER
This new development will include conference / meeting rooms, restrooms, truck driver work stations, a visitor waiting area, a kitchenette, and a service desk for the security staff. The additional phase to this project includes revising the entry gate, a new semi-truck weigh scale, and a parking area for visitors.
BULK PACKAGING TOWER
Klingner provided structural, electrical, HVAC, and special inspections for the installation of five 90’ silos in a building enclosure in the middle of an existing warehouse. The design allows product to be conveyed from the existing hoppers 80’ away via one of two bucket elevators to the top of the Bulk Packaging Building. There, product is sorted into silos to be homogenized (circulated) using chutes, belt conveyors, and two additional bucket elevators.
AMMONIA EMISSIONS RECOVERY / DUAL CRYSTALLIZATION PLANT
Klingner provided structural, architectural, MEP, process, controls, geotechnical, 3D scanning, and equipment piping layout services for a 10,260 SF by 60’ tall chemical plant addition to an existing building, including electrical lighting, ventilation / fume exhaust, and fire main design. Foundation work consisted of soil borings and a geotechnical report. Other structural work included a 3D scan of the areas affected by the expansion and demolition. Exhaust fans and louvers were added to ventilate the expansion and improve the air quality in the rest of the chemical plant. Klingner provided construction administration and management services throughout the entire 16-month construction period.
PRODUCT CALCINER INSTALLATION
Klingner provided structural, mechanical, electrical, 3D scanning, equipment layout, process, controls, and piping services for the addition of a calciner to the facility’s operation. Dust collection and equipment access were of utmost importance, along with maintaining a minimal project footprint to facilitate existing equipment traffic. Evaluation of existing utilities to incorporate the new process was necessary as the new process required significant natural gas loading.
DUSTLESS PNEUMATIC CONVEYOR
Klingner provided structural, mechanical, electrical, 3D scanning, process, controls, and equipment layout for the addition of a dust collection system used to capture fines during unloading of the product. The operators are currently required to unload the product using full face respirators. After the project is completed, the risk of exposure to the fine dust will be minimal, allowing ease for the facility operators and a chance for the facility to capture the fines that were originally left to escape.
CRITICAL CONTROLS FOR A SAFER WORKPLACE
Klingner has provided operating platform designs, monorail designs, electrical safety, and many other engineered and substitution controls for this facility.
