Project Summary
Klingner provided engineering and construction services for a new production facility for the manufacture of die cast magnesium products. These products are the largest sized magnesium die cast shapes in North America. The facility contained very large die cast machines, dust collectors, water treatment systems, boilers, cooling towers, chillers, pneumatic systems, new MCCs, process piping, and controls.
Magnesium is a volatile material that can self-ignite under normal working conditions. Special consideration for utility and process layout was taken to minimize risk of fire and explosion. Coordination with new process and utility equipment suppliers was critical to ensure form, fit, and function of this facility.
