Project Summary

The Burlington Regional Rec Plex was designed as a sports hub for the community, featuring tournament-class soccer, softball, and sand volleyball facilities. The complex’s primary fields are fully lighted with MUSCO Lighting Systems, giving tournament standard lighting levels with peripheral light controls to minimize light spill into adjacent residential neighborhoods. One combined soccer and softball field was constructed with a complete subdrainage system, sand amended topsoil, and a special turf mix to allow play hours after significant rainfall. The infield was constructed of Shakopee Red Ball Diamond Aggregate, while the warning track utilized a locally-available mix of graded sand and limestone chips. The field is fully irrigated with computerized controls.

In addition to the main fields, the facility includes a tot lot, a guest services building with a restaurant and spectator plazas, scoring alcoves, spectator seating, a sound system, and a community plaza. Guests are guided into the facility via the ticket booth, which both controls traffic and is an inviting entrance for athletes and spectators.

A lighted concrete parking lot for approximately 250 cars, a maintenance shed, and complete perimeter fencing were also constructed.
