Project Summary

Klingner evaluated and developed infrastructure improvements for Aldo Boulevard from South 21st Street to South 24th Street (IL Route 96).

The objective of the project was to specifically address problems, such as on-street parking, vehicles encroaching in the boulevard, and poor storm water drainage while maintaining the unique residential qualities of the street.

Klingner provided the City with a topographic survey, preliminary plan development, drainage review, and the development of three options for improving the street, including renderings and cost estimates. The improvements consisted of new curb and gutter, bituminous pavement, storm sewer modifications, driveway aprons, sidewalks, and other miscellaneous appurtenances. Bid alternatives included adding dry pigment coloring to the interior boulevard curb and gutter as well as storm sewer inlet and accessible ramps at 22nd and Aldo Blvd.
