Meet Sean Pickford, a Carbondale-based member of our Water / Wastewater Team!

Q: Tell us a bit about yourself…

Sean: I am from southern Illinois but have lived in various places across the country. I am a father of two, and in my spare time, I play music in a special events band. I also enjoy being outdoors, and I love to travel.

Q: Why did you want to become an engineer?

Sean: I wanted to become an engineer, because I was looking for a professional career that allowed for various types of work.

Q: What piece of advice would you give someone choosing the same career?

Sean: I would say that you should always focus on professional growth and providing quality service to your clients.

Q: What do you enjoy most about the types of projects you work on?

Sean: I enjoy problem solving. My “go-to” when working on the toughest problems is to break things down into smaller sections. I feel a great sense of accomplishment when my projects provide solutions that benefit my clients and their communities.

Q: Is there a project you’ve worked on thus far in your career that you’re proudest of?

Sean: I once worked on a 23-mile watermain project that required a very compressed timeline.

Q: What is one little known fact about you?

Sean: I attended 12 different high schools due to my family’s work requirements.
