Meet Jeff Ledbetter, the newest member of our Land Surveying / GIS Team!

Q: Tell us a bit about yourself.

Jeff: I’m originally from Carbondale, IL. I worked in law enforcement for 20 years and did high-threat protection in Afghanistan with a private company contracted to the U.S. State Department for two years. I have one daughter and three sons. After completing my 20 years and retiring from law enforcement, I returned to school and completed my master of science in geography, with a specialization in geographical information technologies.

Q: Why did you want to become a Technician?

Jeff: I have been interested in geography and cartography since childhood. It’s always been a bit of a passion. I had a partner in St. Louis Police Department that always said that I had a mental map of the City in my brain.

Q: What do you enjoy most about the types of projects you work on?

Jeff: By far I enjoy Statistical Analysis projects the most, but I’m not picky as long as I have a project to work on.

Q: What piece of advice would you give someone choosing the same career?

Jeff: Never stop learning about new products and software. The world of geographical information technologies changes every day.

Q: If you could pick up a skill instantly, what would it be?

Jeff: If I could pick up one skill instantly, it would be rotor wing flight.

Q: If you could visit any place in the world, what would it be?

Jeff: I would love to travel back to Dubai.
