The Corn Belt Ports are, collectively, the largest inland port in the nation. Now, they have been officially recognized on the world stage.

This year, the Federal Government created three new Port Statistical Areas, which will put these ports on the principal U.S. ports list for the first time. In addition to acknowledging existing infrastructure, this move will help attract new investment to the region and support economic development opportunities.

Klingner & Associates, P.C. was retained by Two Rivers Regional Council of Public Officials for the development of an Inland Water Terminal and Foreign Trade Study. The report, completed in 1997, recommended the need for Illinois, Iowa, and Missouri to work together to create a Mid-American Intermodal Port District and three-state commission.
