Exploring Subsurface Conditions

Our team at Geotechnics, a Division of Klingner & Associates, P.C., uses the concepts and principles found in the science of soil and rock mechanics to investigate subsurface conditions and materials; assess risks posed by site conditions; design earthwork and structure foundations; and monitor site conditions, earthwork, and foundation construction.

During the last three years, we have undertaken over 300 geotechnical drilling projects. As regional experts in geotechnical engineering and engineering geology, Klingner’s services complement our extensive field and laboratory capabilities.

Central Mine Equipment drill rigs

Equipment Built For Complex Situations

Klingner’s fleet consists of five drill rigs, three of which are track-mounted to allow us to reach difficult boring locations and minimize ground disturbance.

Our three Central Mine Equipment drill rigs are equipped with calibrated Auto SPT Hammers, Quick Disconnect Mast options for low clearance drilling, and wireline capabilities for rock coring. They are also equipped with Wireline NQWL tools and rotary tooling, along with HSA augers of various diameters with standard soil sampling equipment and continuous sampling capabilities. Our two Geoprobe rigs include a tracked skid steer-mounted CPT rig and trailer-mounted direct push sampling rig.

Comprehensive Understanding Of The Region

Our subsurface exploration teams include personnel that have experience with an array of geological conditions encountered across the Midwest.

Their extensive training facilitates high quality, knowledgeable, and safe subsurface exploration techniques and procedures. Our engineers and technicians have a significant amount of experience in over-water borings utilizing barge platforms, especially on the Mississippi and Illinois Rivers. We also understand working with state and federal agencies and are committed to work zone safety for the public and our staff.
