Get to know Kyle Hannel, a project engineer within our Structural team in Quincy, IL!
Q: Tell us a bit about yourself.
Kyle: I grew up in a small town in Pike County, IL. After high school, I attended Hannibal LaGrange College and then achieved my engineering degree at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. I have been with Klingner’s structural department since 2009.
Q: Why did you want to become an engineer?
Kyle: I enjoyed math, physics, and art in school and developed an interest in the field of construction.
Q: Is there a project you worked on before joining Klingner that you’re proudest of?
Kyle: The ADM DC project was a unique multilevel building that was a fun and challenging structure to design due to space limitations for the lowest level.
Q: What piece of advice would you give someone choosing the same career?
Kyle: Try to keep a healthy balance of work life and home life.
Q: What’s the tallest building you’ve been to the top in?
Kyle: The tallest building would have to be the top of the kiln at Continental Cement Company, at the top of the bluffs south of Hannibal, MO.
Q: What’s the most daring thing you’ve ever done?
Kyle: Cliff diving at Heber Springs Arkansas.
