Become A Regional Geotechnical Leader

Join our expert team as a Geotechnical Engineer. Using advanced testing methods and tools, you’ll lead comprehensive subsurface investigations across the region for critical pre-construction phases. This role is ideal for an experienced professional with a strong background in soil and rock mechanics as well as a proven track record in geotechnical data analysis, comprehensive report writing, and geotechnical solutions. Responsibilities:

  • Writing clear, concise reports with an emphasis on technical accuracy, including field reports, inspection / engineering reports, and geotechnical subsurface investigation reports.
  • Planning and directing field investigations using various testing methods and equipment, which may consist of subsurface investigations and / or soil sample collection.
  • Supervising fieldwork and observing field activities of drilling personnel and soil technicians, including test borings and instrumentation installation.
  • Providing data analysis, organization, and interpretation in support of geotechnical and / or geological investigations for infrastructure; commercial developments; industrial sites; and a wide array of municipal, State, and Federal projects.
  • Executing and / or supervising engineering analyses, including shallow and deep foundation engineering, embankment construction, and seepage and slope stability.
  • Performing cost / quantity estimates, proposals, and project scheduling.
  • Providing construction support by assessing construction sites and providing technicians for material testing.
  • Conducting dam and / or levee safety inspections.
  • Communicating complex information to clients, coworkers, key stakeholders, and construction team representatives in clear terms and efficiently delegating tasks.
  • Overseeing the maintenance, cleanliness, upkeep, calibrations, and safe working condition of equipment at required intervals or usage.
  • Leading and mentoring technical staff.
  • Conducting field and laboratory testing, visiting project sites prior to and during construction, assisting with laboratory supervision, and working in the office, as necessary.

Please Note: Although this position has standard working hours when possible, this position is more task oriented relative to time oriented and requires flexibility with working hours to complete tasks, as required. This position is full-time. Seasonal additional work hours are likely and should be anticipated during busy seasons throughout the year, with additional time compensated.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a Bachelor of Science in Civil, Geological, or Mining Engineering or related field of practice. A Master’s Degree with a Geotechnical focus is preferred.
  • Professional Engineer license in Missouri is required with the ability to obtain an Iowa and Illinois license in the immediate future.
  • 5+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with direct involvement in subsurface exploration programs, engineering analyses, and report completion.
  • Proven experience with design and development of engineering technical solutions, cost estimating, proposal development, and detailed report writing.
  • Solid project management skills with experience providing technical and project leadership to staff-level or junior engineers is necessary.
  • Knowledge of support analysis modeling and programs as well as personal computer proficiency are required competencies.
  • A strong background analyzing soil and rock mechanics and proficiency in various geotechnical computer software is considered essential for this position.
  • A valid driver’s license. Occasional out-of-town travel will be required.
  • Capable of working outside in varying weather conditions.
  • Should be capable of lifting up to 80lbs in and out of truck beds and able to walk across uneven terrain at job sites.
  • Ability to work independently or with others in a safe, friendly, organized, and productive manner.
  • Must be a dependable, trustworthy, and ethical individual with a great work ethic.
  • Must be a fast learner and willing to train for many different testing procedures.
  • Clear written and verbal communication is a must.
  • Must be able to organize, prioritize, and perform work assignments with minimal supervision.

NOTE: Klingner has eight office locations throughout Missouri, Illinois, and Iowa. The potential for transfer to another office location is based on need, capability, and mutual agreement.

Salary Range: $34-$44
Salaries may vary based on experience and qualifications. The listed ranges are typical.
