Design Infrastructure With An Impact

As a Klingner Transportation Engineer, you’ll design the roadways and structures that connect communities. Your technical skills will directly enhance public safety across local, county, and state infrastructure projects. Working alongside industry experts, you’ll grow your career with an active, collaborative design team that prioritizes professional development and making meaningful improvements to transportation infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with project engineers to develop roadway designs, ADA ramp designs, signalized and roundabout intersection designs, geometric studies, intersection design studies, traffic studies, traffic management analyses, opinions of probable cost, and traffic staging plans.
  • Develop site layouts along with grading and drainage designs, utility development, site preparation and demolition, soil erosion and sedimentation control, and construction detail plans.
  • Complete transportation-related projects for public municipal facilities, public and private school projects, and private developments, including multi-residential, mixed-use, and commercial properties.
  • Learn and follow design standards and requirements for municipalities, county highway departments, and different Departments of Transportation.
  • Potentially assist with field inspections, data collection, and construction observation to support design development and construction.
  • Coordinate with Klingner staff members, subconsultants, clients, and other key stakeholders.
  • Complete other tasks as required.

 

PLEASE NOTE: This is a full-time position. Work days will primarily be in the office; however, work on jobsites is also possible.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a bachelor of science in civil engineering.
  • Must have an intention to earn a Professional Engineer license in Illinois, Iowa, or Missouri. If the candidate has an emphasis in structures, future intentions of pursuing Structural Engineer licensure is a plus.
  • Proficiency with OpenRoads Designer is a plus.
  • Able to work independently or with others in a friendly, safe, organized, and productive manner.
  • Dependable, trustworthy, and an ethical individual with great work ethic.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to clearly communicate project details to fellow team members, construction crews, and client representatives.
  • Excellent documentation skills.
  • Able to organize, prioritize, and perform work assignments with minimal supervision.

 

Salary Range: $29-$39
Salaries may vary based on experience and qualifications. The listed ranges are typical.
