Blessing Childcare
Quincy, IL
Klingner & Associates provided the following services for this 23,140 s.f. child care facility:
Architecture: topographical, boundary survey, geotechnical, schematic design, design development, construction documents, bidding and negotiation assistance and construction observation.
Electrical Engineering: design of service entrance, location of all sub-panels, and layout of all lighting and building circuits. Special systems may include phone/intercome and fire alarm system; designed to work with the hospital's existing system.
Mechanical Engineering: design of a water source heat pump system in three mechanical rooms located in the unused attic space of the building. The circulating pumps, boilers and hydronic specialties were located in a fourth mechanical room on the main level near the center of the building. This design provided an energy efficient system with maximum temperature/zone control capabilities.
Structural Engineering: foundation design for the predominately slab-on-grade building with a partial basement under the west wing. The building is to be a wood framed/brick veneer with a wood trussed/metal standing seam roof. The roof framing will need to take into account some anticipated air handling equipment rooms in the attic space.
Municipal Engineering: site planning, storm water retention design and the site plan review process.
Site Work: the site involved required submission to the City of Quincy Plan Commission to obtain partial vacation of two alleys. Soil borings were scheduled after the site was cleared. The west half of the block was surveyed for boundary and contours.
